The Struggle is real...

We have so much information available to us each and every day. We have access to a world of knowledge right at our finger tips. This can be both a blessing and a curse. Some information is phenomenal, some information is misleading, some inspiring, some disempowering. This promotes a real struggle.

We have unlimited access to diet plans, workouts, new and old fitness methods. Sometimes it is hard to shuffle through and know what information is valuable and what information to just scroll on past.

Here’s my best advice: Free yourself and DO YOU

Train YOU

When you start to become an expert on your own body, and your own goals you will have a more defined path. You can mentally block out the false advertising, and the new trends because you already understand what works for you and what does not work for you.

Brainstorm:

A) Write 5 physical activities you like doing

B) Write 5 physical activities you do not like doing

Do more A

When it comes to lifelong health and fitness you must have an activity that you enjoy, and that you can sustain or adapt as your needs change. Part of being well rounded is searching out the best cross training for your preferred movement. If you’re a tennis player, making sure your strength and agility is on point off court will only improve your game. It will also keep you body in peak shape so you can play tennis until you’re 100 years old.

Eat YOUR Way

When it comes to the 100s and 100s of diets, supplements, detoxs, and meal plans I see struggle everyday. What is actually “healthy”, does this (enter fad diet here) work? Should I cut out sugar, carbs, or fats from my diet? I get these questions all the time.

Turn the tables and think from the future, instead of instant gratification. Can you maintain this new style of eating for the next year, 5 years, 10 years? If the answer is no, then it is not for you. If you know you need to make some changes to increase your health and wellbeing start becoming your own expert.

Each and every body is different. What I can eat will be different from what my husband can eat. My portions and my frequency depend solely on what works for my body and my life. Think of your typical day. What do you need to stay fueled energized all day long?

Small steps instead of huge overhauls, minimizes struggle. When you’re looking to shift to a healthier lifestyle it works well to introduce things in small steps.

Map it out:

A) Write down the way you are eating right now

Z) Imagine and write what you would like your eating patterns to look like

B-Y) Write down small shifts you can make weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly that can get you from A-Z

Focusing on one thing at a time you can observe the way your body feels and reacts to the new shift. You can decide if this is a change you can take on for life, or if the step was a bit to extreme and you need to adjust.

Notice I gave you a simple structure, and I’m leaving the rest up to you? That is because this whole process is reliant on YOU declaring that you are going to make a change and taking action on that. Even small steps can guide you towards BIG transformation. Rome wasn’t built in a day…and neither were those 6 pack abs you see on Instagram. (Well unless they used photoshop…then I guess it could be built in a day)

Are YOU ready to be an expert on YOU?

The struggle is real, AND now you know how to FREE YOURSELF =)
